DESCRIPTION: SEE SPECIAL SHIPPING NOTE at end of description. Clock - Large unsigned English Victorian musical clock, probably Winterhalter & Hoffmeyer, ca 1870, 8-day fusee drive bracket clock with 5 gongs and 8 bells performing both Whittington and Westminster chime, heavily carved oak case with swag design, base on four block feet, elaborately pierced back with original cloth backing, brass dial with pierced and engraved detail as well as silvered chapter rings, strike/silent switch, blued steel hands, clock measures 14.5 inches wide x 11.5 inches deep x 23 inches tall to top of fixed handle, weight approximately 50 pounds. NOTE: Large lots not brought to auction location, preview available by appointment at our offices until Friday, October 29, 2021. No in-house shipping available. Arranging shipping of this property is the responsibility of the buyer. Buyer may work with any independent shipper or Jones & Horan can recommend one. Buyer will need to complete the Authorized Release Form found on Jones & Horan's website. Property will remain at Jones & Horan until picked up by the buyer or someone authorized by the buyer.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, striking and chiming properly, recommend a watchmaker's overhaul before regular use, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall; excellent dial with light surface scratches and tarnish typical of a clock of this era; excellent hands show light oxide; case shows light wear with several cracks forming from at the top, sides and bottom, mostly forming along seams where the original glue/nails have started to come free, good glass crystal and sides.
